WHAT WE DO
Art and Soul features stories of local, global, and current creative artists
...from jazz guitarists to contemporary painters. We shine a spotlight on women who are shaping our present-day world of arts. By diving into their lives, their challenges, and their triumphs, we aim to empower a new generation of girls to carve their own niches in the artistic world.
Art and Soul is your compass on the journey to arts education. Interested in making an impact in your community through art and/or music? From murals with female representation to concerts starring up-and-coming girl bands, our mission is to make the arts accessible for all by providing free educational resources.
We believe in community building and activism through creative expression. Accessibility, advocacy, and gender equity hold a special place in our heart and soul.
The Art of Empowerment
What does it look like to break down barriers? What challenges do female artists face? We look at the common barriers artists within these communities face, the stats behind the gender and representation gap, and what artists, professionals, and organizations can do to make the future more equitable.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Serena Flaxenburg
I'm a freshman in college with a deep passion for music, art, and technology.
Dedicated to bringing arts education to everyone, I spend my free time teaching art to middle school and elementary students and jamming at a local community center. I use my skills in technology for creative expression, from composing video game soundtracks to producing my own songs.
Ultimately, I see art, music, and tech as tools for empowerment. I am committed to increasing gender equity in the arts and access to arts education.
